Cleaning Instructions

Proper cleaning and sterilization keeps your stainless steel and titanium-coated instruments performing well and lasting longer. General guidance is below — always follow your facility’s own infection-control protocol first.

1

Pre-rinse immediately after use

Rinse instruments under running water as soon as possible after use to prevent blood, tissue or debris from drying onto the surface, which makes cleaning harder and can affect finish.

2

Manual or ultrasonic cleaning

Use a soft brush with a neutral-pH enzymatic detergent to clean hinges, serrations and box-locks. An ultrasonic cleaner is recommended for hard-to-reach areas on complex instruments.

3

Rinse and dry thoroughly

Rinse with purified or distilled water to remove detergent residue, then dry completely before sterilization or storage — trapped moisture can lead to staining and corrosion over time.

4

Inspect before sterilization

Check that joints move freely, cutting edges are intact, and no residue remains. Lubricate hinged instruments with a surgical-instrument lubricant (not oil) if recommended by your facility.

5

Sterilize per your facility protocol

Autoclave (steam sterilization) is standard for stainless steel surgical and dental instruments. Follow your sterilizer manufacturer’s cycle settings and your facility’s validated sterilization procedure.

6

Store properly

Store sterilized instruments in a clean, dry environment, ideally in sterilization pouches or trays, until ready for use.

This is general care guidance. Always follow your own clinic or hospital’s infection-control policy and the sterilizer manufacturer’s instructions, which take priority over general advice.
